None of the 16 Rassvet satellites launched by Russia in July reached the planned ceiling of nearly 900 km above the ground. According to the U.S. Institute for War Studies (ISW), it is simply a serious problem for Kremlin, who needs satellite net after being disconnected from Starlink in February. However, experts point out that even a limited number of Rassvets poses a threat to Ukraine.

Russia is trying to make its own Starlink. ISW estimates that the Kremlin is not prepared to rapidly implement fresh technology

Russia is trying to make its own equivalent Starlinka. In the latest U.S. study Institute for War Studies (ISW) we read that no of the 16 satellites Rasswiect did not emergence to the mark operating altitude. Most of them were stuck in orbit at a ceiling of 300 to 400 km, alternatively of assumed 870 kmand at least 2 objects are heading back to the Earth's atmosphere.

The launch of satellites carried out on 19 July is the second series of Russian attempts to copy the American satellite net system. From the first tranche, which counted the same amount of facilities, 12 of them reached unchangeable orbit in March. They supply Russian troops in Ukraine with 2 short communications windows per day, lasting a full of up to an hr and a half.

ISW analysts estimation that Russia is attempting to rapidly grow the Rassvet constellation to compensate for Starlink's failure of access from SpaceX Elona Muska. Moscow was cut off from that network in February. According to experts, the Kremlin is not prepared to rapidly implement the fresh technology, resulting in further delays.

Russian Starlink threatened. no of the launched satellites have reached their target.

According to the American think thank you even the current satellite constellation poses a threat to Ukraine. With the aid of Rasswiect, Russian forces can execute more precise drone strikes, even in periods of limited connectivity.

ISW experts indicate the weakest point in the Russian programme: Russia's dependence on costly and uncommon Soyuz-2.1b. At the present rate - six to 8 launches a year - Moscow is able to take up to 128 satellites into orbit in 4 years. Meanwhile, at least 200-300 efficient facilities are needed to guarantee continuous, unchangeable communication over Ukraine.

Additionally, the threat to Russian plans is precise impact of Ukraine. In mid-August, Ukrainian forces fired on Rocket-Space Progressives Plant in Samara, Soyuz rockets. Moreover, they attempted to attack Plesieck cosmodrom in the archangelic circuit from which Rassvety is fired.
