The Ministry of the Interior and Administration decided on Wednesday to extend temporary border checks with Lithuania and Germany. The changes will last until spring next year. "We extend controls to control the migration way which leads from the Baltic countries, through Poland, to Western Europe" - said the Ministry of abroad Affairs.

The Ministry has stated that 1 of the key reasons for extending border controls is the request to catch people who illegally effort moving migrants to the West.

Poland introduced border controls with Germany and Lithuania on 7 July, following in the footsteps of another European countries aimed at stopping illegal migration. The Polish government then extended the actions of the Border defender and WOT from 6 August to 4 October.

According to data published by the Ministry of abroad Affairs, from the beginning of the year to the end of August the Border defender stopped close at the border with Lithuania 500 third-country nationalswho illegally tried to get to Poland.

On the Polish-German border there were over 300 detainees of third-country nationals. From Poland to Germany, she tried to enter illegally over 2.1 000 people, including nearly 550 foreigners who previously crossed illegally Polish-Belarusian border.
