"I was just informed that 2 repatriation flights from the United States with a large number of illegal criminals could not land in Colombia," wrote Donald Trump on social media. - Extraordinary 25-percent duties on all goods imported into the United States. During the week 25-percent duties are to be increased to 50%.
- Prohibition of travel and immediate withdrawal of visas for officials of the Colombian Government and all its allies and supporters
- Visa sanctions for all organization members, household members and supporters of the Colombian government
- Increased customs and border controls of all Colombian and Colombian nationals for reasons of national security
- Full imposition of fiscal, banking and financial sanctions under the IEEPA (Act on global Exceptional economical Entitlements)
“These measures are only the beginning. We will not let the Government of Colombia to violate its legal obligations to receive and send back the criminals he has forced to enter the United States!”
Colombia responds to U.S. actions. ‘Migrant is not a criminal’
The Colombian president had previously reported on the X portal that the reason for his decision was to disagree on the inappropriate treatment of deported migrants who, contrary to average practice, were transported by military aircraft.
“A migrant is not a criminal and must be treated with the dignity that a man deserves... I cannot let migrants to stay in a country that does not want them; but if this country sends them away, it must do so with dignity and respect for them and for our country. We will welcome our fellow citizens arriving in civilian aircraft without treating them as criminals," Petro wrote.
At the same time, the Colombian president stated that over 16,000 U.S. citizens were surviving in his country illegally.
"You will never see me burning the American flag or conducting a manhunt to send illegal immigrants handcuffed to the United States. actual freedomists will never attack human freedom. We are the other of Nazis," Petro wrote.
