On Thursday, the president-elect announced that he would appoint a controversial historian Sławomir Cenckiewicz after being sworn in as the National safety Bureau. During the presentation of the future management of BBN he talked much about cooperation with the government for the safety of Poland. Moments later, he dropped his mask and attacked the government.
Nawrocks about Ambassadors
After the presentation of the composition of the future BBN Nawrocki refused to answer the questions of journalists. But a minute later, he found time for them. He was asked if he was ready to compromise on the ambassadors. It turned out to be, but not really.
– I am ready to have a circumstantial conversation with Mr Sikorski about how this is going to work. I'm not ready to break the Constitution of the Republic. Ambassador nominations are clearly recorded in the Polish Constitution. So I'm ready to talk to Mr. Sikorski. I'll invitation Minister Sikorski to this conversation, we request to systematize it. The President's powers of ambassadors are clearly indicated in the Constitution. Poland needs specified a discussion, specified dialog and that it is represented by the right people, which I will nominate in the discussion with Minister Sikorski – Nawrocki told journalists.
He did not explain what the alleged violation of the constitution would be about. On the another hand, he replied to the question about the nomination of Bogdan Klich that there was no specified possibility.
– Bogdan Klich should not be Polish ambassador to Washington. Nothing's changed. He does not do any work suitable for the Polish state. He is incapable to represent the Polish state, insulting the president of the United States, Donald Trump. So it is apparent that neither Mr Klich nor Mr Schnepf will get my approval – he argued.
Nawrocki thanks Bąkiewicz
He was besides asked about the controversial scenes that have late occurred on the western border.
– As for Mr Bąkiewicz, I thank Mr Bąkiewicz very much for his civic attitude on the border. I am very sorry, Mr. editor, that the Polish State has not managed to cope with the crisis at the border for many months, and it is the citizens who had to fulfil the duties of the State," he said.
