The next 2 multitasking F-35A Husarz aircraft are already in the final phase of production," the Ministry of Defence reported today. Fighters with numbers 3509 (AZ-09) and 3510 (AZ-10) are now being painted. Both machines will come to Poland shortly and will be stationed at 32th Tactical Aviation Base in Łask.
Hussar 3509 and 3510 are ninth and tenth respectively F-35A aircraft produced by Lockheed Martin for Polish Air Force. The first 8 machines are presently at the National defender Air Base in Ebbing (Fort Smith, Arkansas), where under the agreement they are utilized for training Polish pilots. The last of these 8 landed in Ebbing early in the year. MON reports that Husars with numbers from 3501 to 3508 will stay overseas until around the 3rd 4th of 2027. On the another hand, aircraft from 3509.
The first transportation of machines is expected this year. Gen. div. pil. Ireneusz Nowak, Deputy Commander-General of the types of armed forces, as a probable date indicated late the end of May. The first F-35A Lightning II Husar goes to 32 Tactical Aviation Base in Grace (2 Tactical Aviation Wing) close Łódź, where in late 2025 the process of building a modern region with full infrastructure for 16 Polish F-35A ended. By 2029, the Polish Air Force will have a full of 32 American 5th generation aircraft. The second half of this fleet will go to 21th Tactical Aviation Base in Swidwin (1th Tactical Aviation Wing).
The contract for the acquisition of 32 5th generation aircraft was signed in 2020. Hussar production started 3 years later. The contract value is $4.6 billion and includes the transportation of aircraft along with a training and logistics package. The unit price of the F-35A aircraft (including the engine) is $87.3 million.
The logistics package includes spare and operational spare parts, an IT operating management strategy and equipment for ground handling aircraft. The agreement will supply full logistical support for aircraft and another equipment by 2030. The training package includes comprehensive training of pilots and method personnel and ground-based training system, Integrated Training Centre and 8 flight simulators. The Polish F-35A are equipped with the latest version of Block 4 software. The contract includes a modernisation package, according to which modifications will be implemented on aircraft delivered under the earlier tranches.
