According to the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal, the United States is conducting confidential talks with Russia to halt Moscow's usage of atomic weapons and to reduce the escalation of the war. In dealing with Kiev, they want Ukraine not to close itself to possible peace negotiations, although the issue of specified talks is very complicated due to Russia's genocidal policy. Zelensky stated that it was crucial to get Russia to “real peace talks”.
