National Day of Memory of the Cursed Soldiers in Kielce began with celebrations at the Piaski Cemetery. There, at the monument dedicated to “Memoirs of Soldiers of the AK, NSZ, WiN, Murdered by the UB in the Kielecki prison” and on the “kielecka link” we put flowers together, lit candles.
Then, in the Cathedral Basilica, Holy Mass was celebrated for the Cursed Soldiers. After the liturgy, we went through the streets of Kielce to the Wall of Death of the erstwhile Kielecki prison, where we paid tribute and honour to the soldiers of the AK, the countrymen murdered by the Germans, laying flowers, lighting candles. In the courtyard of the prison (now Museum and OMPiO), the Appeal of Memory was held and the anthem of Poland was sung.
Another group of Klubowiczs paid tribute to the heroes of the anti-communist underground in the Zgórskie Forests, at the monument of the Unbreakable Soldiers, and at the “Downs of Death”.
Our members and sympathizers of the Polish paper Club Kielce – Centrum im. Przemysław Gosiewski of Skarżyska Kamienna organized and took part in the ceremony in Skarżysko – West at an obelisk commemorating the heroes of the anti-communist underground.
The ceremony was attended by Mr Sławomir Ciuk, who was the president of the organization Freedom and independency in Skarżysko and Mr Magdalena Grzmil, daughter of the last surviving soldier from the branch of Antoni Heda "Share" of Mr Janusz Sermanowicz, honorary president of the Management Board of the main organization Freedom and Independence. besides present were sons and granddaughter of Zygmunt Chojnack, ps. “Asthma” of a soldier from the group “Ponary”. The candles were lit and prayer was prayed for the dead Soldiers of steadfastness.
