Key sanctions loophole allowing Russian energy deals has expired

The administration of U.S. president Donald Trump has not renewed a sanctions waiver that allowed transactions with Russian banks involving the trading of Russian energy carriers. The decision to expire the loophole was inactive made by the Joe Biden administration and expired on Tuesday.
