King Charles III declared at a solemn banquet in honor of U.S. president Donald Trump that Britain and the United States now have the closest defensive relations in their full history. The British monarch referred straight to the ongoing conflict in Europe.
"Today, erstwhile tyranny threatens Europe erstwhile again, we and our allies unite to support Ukraine, halt aggression and guarantee peace," said the King. He added that these "special" relations between London and Washington "make us safer and stronger over generations."
A imagination of deeper cooperation
Charles III suggested the anticipation of even deeper economical cooperation between countries, going beyond the trade agreement signed at the beginning of the year. "Our nations fought and died together for values that are dear to us" - said the monarch, without mentioning circumstantial conflicts.
The king praised the president of the United States for "personal commitment to uncovering solutions to any of the world's most hard conflicts". In conclusion, he made a toast to Trump and his wife Melania "and to the health, prosperity and happiness of the nation of the United States of America".
President Trump's response
