Thanks to the efforts of families associated with the Augustov Oblast Memorial Union, their correspondence with the Russian national safety Service and investigation of the Memorial Association led by Prof. Nikita Petrov, we know that the number of murdered people – inhabitants of the districts of Augustowski, Suwalski, Sokólski and Sejneński, as well as areas presently outside the east border of Poland – could exceed up to 2,000 people. inactive 80. In 2014, I was the initiator, supported by the Parliamentary Club Law and Justice, of a resolution in which in the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, for the first time, he paid tribute to the Victims of Oława Augustowska, and in 2015 – the Act on the Establishment of 12 July The Day of Memory of the Victims of the Augustine Siege. Thanks to this, and thanks to the celebrations organized all year on the symbolic Hill of the Cross in Gibach and commemorations, in the form of memorial plaques and monuments, cognition about this crime is becoming increasingly common.
