The controversy surrounding military support for Ukraine dominated the tv debate of candidates for German Chancellor. Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD), Friedrich Merz (CDU/CSU) and Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck (Greens) expressed unanimous support for further military aid to Kiev, while Alice Weidel, the leader of the AfD, powerfully opposed it.
