In the face of increasing hybrid threats and the request to safe strategical communications, Poland officially joins the construction of the European satellite constellation IRIS2. On Tuesday, 21 July 2026, Minister of the Interior and Administration Marcin Kierwiński signed an agreement with the European Commission, under which PLN 2.8 billion (EUR 656 million) will be transferred from the budget of the National Recovery Plan to finance the construction of respective satellites. This task is to make the alleged Polish satellite dome, ensuring the resilience of the country's communication infrastructure in the event of crises and armed conflicts.
