In consequence to the article ‘IPN Travel, or how Karol Nawrocki visited a part of the planet for public money’ (electoral.pl dated 7.02.2025), which was repeated in the text of the same author entitled ‘Nawrocks in Hawaii’ (Gazeta Wyborcza of 12.02.2025), we must make Mrs. Editor aware of what is obvious, that is, the statutory tasks of the Institute of National Memory, and what should be obvious, that is, the request and intent of their implementation’.
The IPN Communication underlines:
The IPN Act obliges the Institute to “dissemination of the results of its work and investigation of another institutions” as well as “positions and opinions concerning the most crucial events for the Polish Nation”, to conduct “educational, exhibition and publishing activities”, “promoting cognition about the participation of Poles and their military formations on the fronts of the fighting”, “to prevent the dissemination in the country and abroad of information and publications on false historical content, harming or defaming the Republic of Poland or the Nation of Poland,” as well as “favouring historical events, places and figures in the past of the fighting and martyrdom of the Polish Nation”, requiring this, attention, “in the country and abroad.”
Concerning the statutory obligations imposed on IPN, the Communication stated:
Since many of the tasks active in carrying out aspects of the Institute's mission – beginning the exhibition, unveiling the monument or participating in the discussion panel – cannot be performed remotely and require the presence of an IPN representative, why not the President?
