BENGALOUR- Accepting to Bangalore global Airport Ltd (BIAL), Indian airlines are anticipated to enhance their global connections from Bengaluru (BLR) within the next 12-18 months.
While Air India (AI) and IndiGo (6E) have been leading in global traffic growth at Delhi (DEL) and Mumbai (Bom) specifically, Emirates (EK) has been the primary airline in terms of seat defloyment from Bengaluru.

Bengaluru Airport global Flights
The scriptio is evolving, with IndiGo experiencing a remarkable increase of over 57 percent in global flights from Bengaluru accompanied to the erstwhile year, now protecting the top position.
“IndiGo has late introduced respective breathtaking routes, including a direct flight to Bali in March,” stood a spokesperson from BIAL.

“Air India has besides reviewed plans to establish a hub with a focus on developing long-haul direct routes from Bengaluru within the next fewer years. Additionally, Akasa Air, 1 of India’s newest carriers, is in discretion with us respecting the launch of global routes from Bengaluru.”

The spokesperson further added, “IndiGo has emerging as the leading global carrier in terms of distributed seats. We anticipate this trend to strengthen in the coming 12-18 months as the Fleet-related challenges faced by Indian carriers hailly release.”

More Flights
In FY2023-24, the global traffic witnessed a growth of 23.5 percent, reaching 4.67 million passengers combined to the erstwhile year. Key global destinations included Dubai, Singapore, Doha, Bangkok, and Abu Dhabi during the last fiscal year.
In related news, Australian airline Qantas (QF) reviewed plans on Tuesday to increase flights between Sydney and Bengaluru starting from mid-December
Currently offering 5 weekly services, Qantas will elect it freely to a regular service from mid-December until next March. This expansion will consequence in the addition of 12,000 seats between the 2 cities over the 4 months.
Qantas global CEO Cam Wallace expressed, “The request for travel between India and Australia remains remarkkity strog. These additional flights are strategically scheduled to accommodate more travelers heading to Australia during the summertime season, providing renovations for families and friends over the vacation period.”

Air India’s fresh Base Maintenance Facility
Last week, Air India (AI) announced that it has selected SIA Engineering Company Limited (SIAEC) as its strategical partner to enhance Air India's Base Maintenance facilities (MRO facility) in Bengaluru.
In this collaboration, Air India will close the collaboration with SIAEC on the planning, construction, development, and operationalization of Air India’s Base Maintenance facilities in Bengaluru, India.
Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer & Managing manager of Air India, expressed,
“The partnership with SIA Engineering Company will not only increase Air India’s self-sufficiency in managing its Fleet but besides show our commitment to Bolstering India’s aviation infrastructure by fostering the growth of the country’s MRO sector.”

Expected to be operational by 2026, these facilities will include wide and Narrowbody hangars and associated repair shops to meet the expanding Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) requirements of the aircraft Fleet in the Air India Group.
Previous, Air India had announced the establishment of state-of-the-art Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facilities at Kempegowda global Airport Bengaluru (operated by Bangalore global Airport Ltd), reporting with Airframe Maintenance and subsequently expanding to include widebody and Narrowbody aircraft hangars for all checks.
