On Wednesday 18 February this year, the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty issued [communication](https://www.impots.gouv.fr/sites/default/files/media/2_actu/particulier/401—-cp—-acces-illegitimes-au-fichier-national-des-comptes-bancaires-ficoba.pdf) concerning the breach of data protection in the subordinate Directorate General Public Finance (DGFiP). The investigation showed that an unauthorised individual obtained illegal access to the national FICOBA bank accounts register.
