The next 4th edition of the "SEW University Diplomatic Study" was launched – a specialized course in training future young Belarusian diplomats.
This is simply a continuation of the specialised training programme launched in 2020 under the Solidarity with Belarus programme. Participants may be citizens of Belarus, graduates of higher education. The beginning ceremony of the 4th edition of the "SEW University Diplomatic Study" was held on 30 November 2023 in the Column Hall of the Faculty of past of the University of Warsaw.
The beginning ceremony was opened by the manager of the survey of east Europe, Jan Malicki, who welcomed many of the guests together and talked about the origin and thought of a fresh course under the "Solidarni z Belarus" programme. In his speech, Mr Jan Malicki stressed the importance of continuously supporting the Belarusians in their quest for sovereignty, freedom and democratisation of Belarus. The Head of abroad Service of the Polish Ministry of abroad Affairs then spoke Minister Piotr Rychlik. In his speech he pointed out the good teaching practices of the Warsaw University of east Europe in support of education, culture and Belarusian civilian society located in Poland by conducting many scholarship programmes aimed at citizens of Belarus for many years. He besides pointed out the crucial function of the MFA Diplomatic Academy as the main programme partner of the Diplomatic Study. In turn, Vice-President of the United Interim Office of Belarus, Mr Pavel Latushka, in his speech, stressed the advanced level of teaching in the Diplomatic Study, which is reflected in the work of course graduates in many Belarusian democratic centres located in the exile region. The Ambassador of France to Poland Étienne de Pontins, who, through the French Institute in Warsaw (Institut français) besides gave his support de Varsovie) supports “Diplomatic Study” by teaching French from the very beginning of the course. In the second part of the inauguration, a debate took place with experts dealing with Belarus, including: Anna Maria Dyner (Polish Institute of global Affairs), Dr. Kamil Kłysiński (Eastern Studies Centre), Dr. Pavel Usov (Studio of east Europe of the University of Warsaw), whose moderator was Consul Jarosław Ksiżek. The debate afraid the current state and prospects of the Belarusian statehood.
The ceremony was besides attended by erstwhile and current lecturers of the "Diplomatic Study", persons representing institutions that are partners in program, lecture and teaching cooperation, i.e. the Diplomatic Academy of the Polish Ministry of abroad Affairs, the French Institute in Warsaw, the Centre of French Culture and Francophone Studies in Poland, the Centre of Polish Language and Polish Culture for Foreigners at the University of Polonicum, the National School of Public Administration, the Centre of east Studies, the Centre of Mieroszewski, the Department of Public Diplomacy and Cultural Ministry of Poland.
21 people are presently listening to the 4th edition of the Diplomatic Study. The graduates of the 3 erstwhile editions are 60 people.
The course aims to train fresh Belarusian diplomatic staff in Poland. The course will include analysis of the political situation in Belarus and the post-Soviet area, policy explanation and practice, abroad and safety policy, diplomatic protocol, global law, etc. The training will be conducted in cooperation with the Diplomatic Academy of the Polish Ministry of abroad Affairs, with the participation of experienced lecturers and diplomats. Diplomat training was given a password ‘NEW CARDS FOR fresh BALOUR’.
The implementation of the programme will be covered by the aid measures of the Government of the Republic of Poland, as part of the task “Solidarnia z Belarus”’.
