Penalties shall be extended all six months with the agreement of all associate States. This time the extension was negotiated by the Polish Presidency of the EU Council.
According to the EU source, associate States have taken "a decision not to extend the entry of 4 people on the list and to remove 3 late deceased people from it".
In uncertainty about the extension, the remaining EU countries were held by Hungary, which demanded that any people be removed from the list. According to the media, Budapest was to search the abolition of sanctions against Russian oligarch Mikhail Fridman. However, according to the EU source, it remained on the sanction list.
Individual sanctions, covering more than 2,000 persons and entities from Russia, including Vladimir Putin, members of his government and oligarchs, would expire on Saturday Sunday night without extension.
