The blacksmith, president of the Parliamentary Committee on abroad Affairs and the Council for Cooperation with Ukraine, reported that this was the first study to present Polish aid to Ukraine in a comprehensive manner after the Russian invasion.

The politician, who is co-founder of the Warsaw Uprising Museum, admitted that in his opinion the aid that Poles gave to Ukrainians at the beginning of the full-scale attack could be described as a “Polish humanitarian uprising”.

– It was a reaction to a Russian invasion, to a violation of global law, to massive attacks on civilians. We understood that we should open a fresh chapter in Polish-Ukrainian relations in this critical situation," added the MP during the presentation of the study at Ukraine home in Washington. The event was organised during a visit to the US by a delegation from the Committee on abroad Affairs and the Committee on National Defence of the Polish Sejm.

The co-author of the study Wiktor Babinski pointed out that the survey is holistic: it includes state aid, society, NGOs. He expressed his belief that this "moment will be remembered as 1 of the top chapters of Polish-Ukrainian history".

According to the report, between 2022 and 2023 the value of the Polish government's assistance to Ukraine amounted to about EUR 25 billion. Polish society provided support of EUR 5 billion. 77 percent of Poles were active in helping refugees during this period. 7 percent of Poles accepted refugees in their homes.
