Morocco claims that in July the Spanish government had warned about the hazard of mass influx of migrants into Ceuta. According to the Ministry of abroad Affairs in Rabat, the informing was to be given a fewer days before the effort to enter the Spanish exclave of about 60,000 people.
According to the Moroccan authorities, the impulse to increase migratory force was the conviction of the Spanish ultimate Court of July 8, which banned the immediate return of migrants arriving by sea to Ceuta and Melilla. At the same time, the correction criticised politicians from Spain and another EU countries for placing Morocco liable for the migration crisis. According to the Spanish authorities, at least 88 people were killed during a mass effort to enter Ceuta, mainly as a consequence of drowning. Spanish defence minister Margarita Robles called on the Moroccan authorities to full explain the circumstances of the events.
After dramatic events, Spain strengthens Ceuta's safety features. A 500-metre floating barrier was installed close the coast to impede further attempts to cross the border illegally by sea.
