The acquisition of Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II aircraft for the Luftwaffe will include 35 aircraft and a full arms package, including air-to-air missiles, air-to-ground air-to-ground and guided bombs and additional equipment with a full value estimated by the defence safety Cooperation Agency at $8.4 billion. The German offer request has already been approved by the State Department and has been transferred to Congress, which must consent to any acquisition in the abroad Military Sales system.
