The acquisition of Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II aircraft for the Luftwaffe will include 35 aircraft and a full weapons package, including air-to-air missiles, air-to-ground missiles and guided bombs and additional equipment, totalling an estimated $8.4 billion by the defence safety Cooperation Agency. The German RFP has already received State Department approval and has been forwarded to Congress, which must consent to any acquisition in the abroad Military Sales system.
