The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung published an article on Sławomir Mentzen. The author of the text Stefan Locke estimated that until late the Confederate candidate had been treated as an outsider and is presently taking seriously the script in which he enters the second circular of the presidential election. The correspondent already at the very beginning of the analysis stated that the politician represents a organization composed of right-wing extremists, monarchs and Eurocritics.
A FAZ writer pointed out that many young people are attending meetings with Sławomir Mentzen. He stressed that any of them do not even have full voting rights yet and cannot vote. Clearly, they are enthusiastic. Many keep cell phones, make selfies or evidence videos that they later make available on Instagram or Tiktoku – he writes.
In the remainder of the text, he noted that for any of Sławomir Mentzen's sympathizers any of his views concerning, among others, the right to abortion or the war in Ukraine are problematic, but the planet knows that things will not go so badly and hope for real change prevails.
Stefan Locke admitted that for a long time it was almost for certain that the successor of Andrzej Duda would be politicians from KO or PiS, due to the fact that it has been these 2 groups that have been giving a speech to Polish politics for over 20 years. Meanwhile, in any polls Sławomir Mentzen precedes Karol Nawrocki. According to FAZ correspondent for the PiS, this is simply a shocking situation in peculiar for the PiS, which wants to defend the Presidential Palace so that it does not fall into the hands of political opponents. However, the writer adds that Rafał Trzaskowski cannot sleep peacefully either, as Sławomir Mentzen could prove to him a much more uncomfortable rival than Karol Nawrocki.
Mentzen is deliberately positioned as an outsider on the political arena, which makes him peculiarly attractive to the disappointed and tired of politics – reads FAZ. According to the German correspondent for Confederate policy, it is on this point that it builds its popularity that it seems different from all another candidates. In this way, it is supported by voters from different social groups.
The Confederacy has never ruled, it can afford to take a very clear position on various matters. This distinguishes him from opponents from KO and PiS, who are always criticized for what their parties achieved while in power," concluded Stefan Locke.
