French president Emmanuel Macron reported that during a telephone conversation with Iran's president Masud Pezeszkaan called for the restoration of shipping in the Strait of Ormuz as shortly as possible. Macron warned against uncontrolled escalation of the conflict in the mediate East.

The leader of France wrote on platform X late in the evening on Sunday: “I just spoke to Iran’s president Masud Pezeszkian. I called upon him to immediately end the unacceptable attacks Iran is carrying out against countries in the region, straight or through its agents, including Lebanon and Iraq. I reminded him that France is acting solely in defence to defend its interests, its regional partners and its freedom of navigation and that it is unacceptable for our country to be the mark of the attacks."

"The uncontrollable escalation we are witnessing plunges the full region into chaos with serious consequences both present and for the coming years. The people of Iran and the full region are paying for this," the French president added.
