Finnish hockey players for the 5th time in past reached for the planet championship. In the finals played in Zurich they defeated tournament hosts, Swiss, 1:0 after overtime, winning the first title since 2022.
The final character was Konsta Helenius. The 20-year-old attacker showed off with an awesome individual action in the 71st minute of the meeting, passing respective rivals and a precise shot providing the Finns with a gold medal. Previously, both teams had long been incapable to find a way to break the enemy's defense. The Finns were already in the net in the first period, but the goal was not recognized.
For Switzerland, it's another painful finale. The hosts won the sixth planet championship silver in past and had to settle for second place for the 3rd time in a row. The first gold is inactive waiting.
Even more excitement brought the match for the bronze medal. The Norwegians recorded the most beautiful chapter in their hockey history, defeating Canada 3:2 after overtime and winning the world's first planet Cup medal.
