During the Alliance for liable Citizenship (ARC) conversation, the UK improvement Leader, Nigel Farage, along with Canadian scientist Jordan Peterson, discussed the drop in fertility rates in western countries. Farage, trying to find a solution to this problem, pointed to the request to return to “Judeo Christian” values and “optimism” as foundations that can improve the demographic situation in Britain and the West.

Farage noted that Western culture, and especially British culture, was mostly based on these values for centuries. According to him, they were forgotten of their fundamental importance, which had negative consequences on both spiritual and social issues. He stressed that only the restoration of “Judeo Christian” ideals can reconstruct the moral order essential to solve modern crises, including falling fertility rates.

However, even though he emphasized the importance of these values, he besides admitted that his individual experiences with matrimony (the politician divorced his first wife and the another is separated) could make him not the best spokesperson for the monogamous, heterosexual model of the family. Nevertheless, he stated that the return to these values was crucial for the future of Western civilization.

Jordan Peterson, who is known for his strong views on conventional values, added that it is essential to follow values specified as “stable, committed, heterosexual marriage” and to take care of the welfare of children. According to Peterson, the promotion of these principles could be the foundation for improving the demographic situation.

Farage and Peterson in their speech highlighted the request to change the attitude of younger generations, promoting the values of work, success and fair pay. However, a key component of their conversation was the thought of returning to the “Judeo-Christian” foundations, which they thought formed the basis of Western civilization.

JudeoChristianism: Imagination or Reality?

Although the word "judeo Christianity" has become a popular slogan in political debate, especially among activists of the Western right-wing movements, it is worth considering its legitimacy. In a spiritual and civilizational context, connecting Judaism with Christianity in 1 sense is questionable.

Judaism and Christianity disagree in the basic theological issues – primarily in relation to the nature of God, the function of Jesus Christ and the Holy Trinity. Christianity is based on believing in the divine nature of Jesus and the Holy Trinity, while Judaism rejects these concepts, recognizing only the Old Testament and additional writings like the Talmud. Therefore, erstwhile speaking of “judeo-Christianity”, fundamental theological differences are ignored, which make this concept, in a sense, contradictory to reality.

For a Catholic who believes in the fullness of the teaching of the Church, the concept of “Judeo-Christianity” can be misleading. In theological sense, Catholic discipline clearly distinguishes between Judaism and Christianity, and their unification under the common motto creates confusion. specified a combination can lead to a false sense of unity that is not justified in the real spiritual differences.

The conflict of Civilization: Conclusive and His Analysis

Felix Koneczny, 1 of the most prominent Polish historians, in his explanation of civilization, pointed to crucial differences between different civilization traditions. According to his teaching, Western civilization grows out of the foundations of Christianity, while judaic civilization, muslim civilization, or others, have separate sources and should not be seen as elements of the same tradition. It not only pointed to theological differences, but besides to different socio-cultural models that form individual civilizations.

From a Coneical perspective, connecting Judaism with Christianity within 1 civilization is impossible due to the fact that both systems disagree in foundations. Therefore, although “judeo Christianity” is simply a popular slogan among the western right and sometimes besides in Poland, in the light of Koneczne's views it seems to be an ideological construct, which has no coverage in the reality of civilization.

In conclusion, although the word "judeo Christianity" is present in public debate, especially in the context of conservative values, it is an illusion for a Catholic. In fact, Judaism and Christianity disagree fundamentally, both in theological and in civilization. The shift of emphasis on the real conflict of civilization, as proposed by Felix Koneczny, can aid to realize deeper differences and avoid simplifications that do not service to decently analyse contemporary problems.
