Erika Steinbach, a German female far besides well known to Poles, has just been punished by... Jews. It's about her relation with an alternate to Germany.
Erika Steinbach has been president of the Union of Exiles from Germany for years. In this role, she frequently played against Poland, demanding, for example, compensation for expulsions; she besides criticized the designation of the German border on Oder and Nysa.
In fresh years she has become active with the alternate for Germany – she heads the Dezyder Erazm Foundation (Desiderius-Erasmus-Stiftung), which is close to this party.
For 40 years Steinbach besides belonged to the German-Israeli Society (Deutsch-Israelische Gesellschaft). Now she was not allowed to attend the yearly gathering of the organization, which was held in the territory of the judaic sports association TuS Makkabi. The company authorities simply banned her.
Interestingly, Steinbach did not criticize Israel. She even declared that she would be willing to attend the gathering in connection with “the panic of Hamas against Israel and the issue of hostages who had not yet been released, and besides in the face of terrible hostility towards Jews in Germany.”
After being excluded from the meeting, Steinbach stated that specified obstacles would not reduce her "solidarity with Israel".
The Jews did not give the reason for their decision. It's most likely about Steinbach's relation with AfD. Interestingly, the alternate has been very affirmative towards Israel in fresh years. After the Hamas attack in October 2023, she announced that the organization would powerfully support the judaic people.
Recently, enthusiasm has subsided somewhat, due to Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip. Regardless of AfD's attitude, German Jews inactive respect this organization as a threat to democracy.
