China's leader Xi Jinping met in Beijing with Cheng Li-wun, head of Kuomintang (KMT), the largest opposition organization in Taiwan. During the first decade of talks at this level, Xi stressed that there would be no "demeanor" for the island's independence, but hoped for peaceful unification.
