DUBAI- Emirates (EK) has launched the commercial operations of its first Airbus A350, setting new benchmarks in inflight entertainment and passenger experience. Equipped with Thales’s AVANT Up system, the aircraft promises to redefine comfort and connectivity for travelers.

Today, on January 3, 2025, Emirates introduced its state-of-the-art A350 on the Dubai (DXB) to Edinburgh (EDI) route, featuring an upgraded ‘ice’ IFE system that offers cutting-edge technology and tailored passenger services.

Emirates Debuts First A350

The inaugural flight of Emirates’ (EK) first Airbus A350-900, operating as EK23, departed Dubai International Airport (DXB) at 3:26 PM local time on January 3, 2025.

The Airbus A350 replaces the Boeing 777 aircraft on the Dubai-Edinburgh route, which resumed a few months back after 4-year hiatus.

The aircraft embarked on its journey to Edinburgh (EDI), Scotland, marking a historic milestone for the airline. After a smooth and efficient flight, EK23 will touch down at Edinburgh Airport at 6:59 PM local time.

The Emirates A350 showcases the AVANT Up inflight entertainment system, developed in collaboration with Thales. This next-generation ‘ice’ system includes over 30 innovative features designed to enhance the onboard experience. Key highlights include:

• 4K QLED HDR Displays: Ultra-responsive touchscreens deliver the highest picture quality in the sky, offering a cinematic experience.
• Advanced Connectivity: Passengers can pair up to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously and enjoy built-in Wi-Fi.
• Enhanced Charging Capabilities: The system features 60W USB-C fast charging ports, ensuring devices are powered throughout the journey.
• Smart User Interface: A redesigned interface allows seamless navigation of a vast catalog of entertainment options, including live TV, movies, and short video content.

Passengers can log in to their personal accounts, save preferences, and receive curated recommendations based on their watch history. The system also provides real-time information, such as personalized connecting gate details, creating a seamless travel experience.
