Speaking at the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pasynian raised the subject of Armenians forcibly displaced from Mountain Karabach.

Paszynian estimated that refugees should be settled in Armenia with the support of authorities and the global community.

"We have already launched a programme to supply them with housing. For now, it has been difficult, but I am certain that it will become more effective over time. I see the future of our fellow Members from Karabach in the Republic of Armenia – as citizens of the Republic of Armenia", the Prime Minister stressed.

According to Armenpress, Paszynian besides referred to the question of the possible return of Armenians to Mountain Karabach.

“I am simply saying that I do not find this realistic. Moreover, I attach large importance to honesty in this substance so that people can build their perspectives and plans. In this context, I consider the subject of returning refugees to be dangerous for the peace process," he said.

The Prime Minister pointed out that disputes about akin issues in the past have turned into long-term conflicts. "Conflicts, including carabasques, began, it would seem, with simple humanitarian problems and turned into large-scale clashes," said Paszynian.

He besides stressed that Armenia and Azerbaijan have already recognised each other's territorial integrity and integrity of borders on the basis of the Alma-Ata Declaration:

"We must focus on this expression and work on its implementation. simply put, Armenia and Azerbaijan should leave each another alone for the coming decades and focus on the improvement of economical cooperation and gradual dialogue."
