Karol Nawrocki took an oath before the National Assembly on Wednesday, 6 August and officially took office as president of the Republic of Poland. He gave his first message, in which he did not deficiency harsh words, and then realized the following points in the program of that day.
At the time of taking an oath at the Royal Castle in Wawel, according to the order of Archbishop Marek Jędraszewski of Kraków, Sigismund Bell was to sound, reserved for the most crucial events in the past of the state. However, 2 bell towerers failed to comply.
Sigmund's bell didn't ring. Bell Tower rebellion?
According to "Gazeta Wyborcza" to launch the 12-ton Sigismund Bell, it takes at least 12 bell bells. Only 10 came in on Wednesday. That's not adequate to make a bell sound.
This is the first time that the bell towers did not come to the call of both the Kraków Metropolitan and the parish priest of the Wawel Cathedral, who straight supervises their actions.
The band of bell towerers has 30 members, and part of it was on vacation on the day of Charles Nawrocki's oath. According to the information of Polish Radio, the vacation period was expected to be the reason for their absence.
The authoritative reason is simply a vacation period and an unofficial one?
Unofficially, however, the absence of parts of the bell tower was to be planned. Not everyone liked the decision of Archbishop Jędraszewski to launch the Sigismund Bell on the occasion of the swearing-in of Karol Nawrocki. Radio Kraków reports that the bell towerers were to consider this command "politically motivated", with which they disagreed internally.
One of the Krakow clergymen said in an interview with Gazeta Wyborcza that nobody expected specified a course of events. He besides pointed out that the metropolitan's decision to honor the President's oath in this form was a surprise to many.
– After this volley of bell rings, an interior investigation will surely begin, who did not come, and why, I anticipate even to expel the insubordinate from this honorary group," he said.
Archbishop Jędraszewski that day did not cover how crucial the minute of the swearing-in of Karol Nawrocki was to him.
During the inauguration of the Kraków pilgrimage to Jasna Góra, he called on the faithful to pray for their homeland and for the fresh president, who, as he pointed out, "started his way to triumph on 24 November 2024, praying in the Wawel Cathedral, besides at the grave of president Lech Kaczyński and his wife.".
