Adaptive Day at the University of east Europe Study

The adaptation day at the east European Studies University was an chance to meet the teaching staff, as well as to get acquainted with the organization and program of studies.

On 2 October 2023, an adaptation gathering was held for students of the University of east Europe in the Faculty of Neophilology.

In the introduction, the manager of the east European Studies at the University of Warsaw Jan Malicki spoke about the past and present, the specifics of the SEW and the prospects for improvement after the east Studies.

Dr. Irena Bilińska (Statutory Officer for Student Affairs) told about formal information, regulations and resolutions of the Department of Oriental Studies. east Language School (SJW) was brought up by Mrs Inga Kotańska, Head of the SJW. The issues that most affected students in the first degree, i.e. student issues concerning enrollment for tutors, OGUNs, PNJRs, classrooms, PEWI, or wellness and safety training, were discussed in detail.

Second-degree students were given attention to the right choice of specialisation, which in the close future will be conditional on further improvement in the region, especially in the intellectual and professional areas. There are six specializations in the second degree of east Studies: Russia (Dr. Marek Radziwon), east Europe (prof. Hubert Łashkiewicz), Central Europe (dr. Irena Bilinska), Balkans (dr. Rigels Halili), Central Asia (dr. Louisa Włodek), Caucasus (dr. David Kolbai).

At the end of the gathering of LIC and MGR first year students with representatives SEW technological Circle.

Instruction for students of the first year, i.e. “guidelines” how to know about student matters. You will find information like:

  • topography of the University of Warsaw (addresses of Orientalist faculty units);
  • the Orientalist Division website;
  • information on the USOS strategy and compulsory training (e.g. wellness and safety)
  • information on the correct submission of applications or payment;
  • information on all matters related to the course of studies (submissions, certificates, etc.);
  • the academic calendar;
  • scholarships and material assistance.

Information booklet for fresh UW students. From the guide students will learn about:

  • what the dean is, what the student postal account is for, how the Wi-Fi college works, what the ELS is, where to ask for a free place in the dorm, where the university cafeteria is,
  • types of classes and ways of registering them,
  • important dates from the academic calendar,
  • grants and material assistance,
  • the location of individual units of the University of Warsaw,
  • forms of national and abroad exchange,
  • support in hard or conflict situations,
  • activities outside the class.

SEW students deal with all issues related to the course of studies (submissions, certificates, etc.) in the Student Secretariat.
