The Ministry of Digitization is preparing a revolution in the way we sign into public services.
The fresh draft of the regulation changes the principles of the Trusted Profile and mCitizen applications, as reported in the diary of Law Newspaper. The changes will enter into force on 12 January 2026 and there will be no transitional period from them.
Mandatory integration with e-proof
This is the biggest and most crucial change. Currently, you can log in to the Trusted Profile in many ways (e.g. via electronic banking). As of January 12, 2026, all user of the Trusted Profile will gotta have a mandatoryly related additional form of authentication – a individual profile, or e-proof.
As the portal emphasizes, this is not an option to choose from. The Ministry thus wants to rise the level of safety and make certain that the identity of each user is clearly confirmed.
mCitizen becomes command center
The strategy of the hotel seems clear: mCitizen is to become the central gateway to all e-services. The Trust Profile itself will cease to be a separate entity, and it will become 1 of the functions inside the mCitytel application.
This involves another change: notifications. Until now, PZ messages have only been sent to e-mail. Now the strategy will let all alerts to be sent straight to the mCitizen app.
No more safety alerts off.
It's a change that can origin controversy. The fresh rules presume that the user will not be able to opt out of receiving safety messages.
This means that any login attempt, password reset or suspicious account activity will make a mandatory notification in the application or on the email. The Ministry explains that this is security, not surveillance, to respond immediately in case of an effort to take over the account.
What do you gotta do?
For now, users do not gotta take any action. The strategy is to automatically update existing accounts on January 12, 2026. The only thing worth checking until then is whether our ID has an electronic layer (e-proof).
