Innovation and functionality are the basic features that the Defender Jury considered. At the global Defence manufacture Salon among the 10 distinguished designs was the MSBS Grot carbine strategy in a classical and non-collar strategy with a suspended modular grenade launcher, an automatic anti-tank mine stacker and a jet MTJD drone.

Defenders are awards with a long tradition. Organizers of the Kielce arms fair For 28 years, they have honored defence products with innovation and advanced utility value. The jury consisting of representatives of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, the Office of National Security, the Ministry of Defence, abroad Affairs, Home Affairs and Administration, improvement and Technology, and Education and Science, as well as representatives of the Armed Forces of Poland and Uniform Services, decides on who the maker receives the statue of the knight behind the shield.
Ten products were awarded this year. present we present 3 of them.
The grotto is developing
Modular tiny Arms strategy 5,56 mm Grotto This is the consequence of investigation and improvement of engineers from the “Łuknik” Radom weapon mill and the Military method Academy. The firearm was first presented publically in 2011.
The grotto is simply a modular plan in which the user can replace the barrel in the long term, change the caliber from 5.56 to 7.62 mm, attach the grenade launcher, mount an additional handle, viewfinder or change the flask layout. The weapon in the classical version – a flask – has a barrel of 406 mm in dimension and a mass of 3.65 kg. Its dimension with a stock of 843 mm and 900 mm with an extended foot.
During this year's MSPO was awarded not the same classical MSBS firearm Grotto 5.56 mm, but the weapon strategy in the flask and spineless strategy along with the suspended grenade launcher. The carbonless Grota version (the alleged bull-pup) has a weight of 3,750 kg and a dimension of 675 mm.
The Polish Army is presently not equipped with the Grot version of bull-pup, but in June Brig-Gen Krzysztof Stańczyk, Commander of the Territorial Defence Forces, announcedthat the army wants to equip, among others, soldiers of mechanized and armored units.

Protect the bomb squad
The designation of the Defenders' jury besides gained an automated mine stacker (ZUMP), developed by specialists from PEX Defence Polska Janusz Kania and engineers from the Military Institute of Engineering Technology. According to representatives of the consortium, which ZUMP presented on MSPO, their solution meets the expectations of bomb squads to rapidly and safely place anti-tank minefields.
– 1 anti-tank mine has a weight of about 10 kg. If the bombarders are to place a field of 200 mines, it is easy to calculate that these are 2 tons to spread. This requires not only large effort, but besides time. Our solution allows automatic anti-tank mines with a density of stacking from 3 to 12 min per square metre – provided Adrian Mazera, Head of Technology at PEX Defence Polska Janusz Kania.
During the global Defence manufacture Salon, the ZUMP strategy was installed on a Star 266M2 vehicle and had a supply of 200 min. However, as the maker assures, both the capacity of the mine warehouse and the kind of carrier can be adapted to the user's expectations.
Unmanned launcher
This year the award was besides awarded to Modular Turbo Jet Drone (MTJD) from Kopacki Construction Engineering Company. The representatives of the company emphasize that the drone developed by a squad of young scientists is simply a 100 percent Polish construction. “We decided to plan the jet drive ourselves in order to have full control of mass production,” explains 1 of the engineers employed at the project.
A drone called MTJD 15 was presented at the Kielce Fair. The unmanned vessel has a weight of 45 kg, wings with a span of 2.4 m, and its maximum take-off mass is 105 kg. The drone, which needs a runway of 430 metres in length, reaches a cruising velocity of more than 600 km/h and a tallness of 13 km. Its scope is about 1,000 km.

Specialists from the Poznań company guarantee that work on larger MTJD "brothers" is already underway. The model designated as MTJD 100+ is designed to make a maximum velocity of 2.3 Ma. It will be able to take 100 kg of cargo, scope a scope of more than 1000 km and a ceiling of more than 15 km.
