The Business Insider news agency published an article by Samuel Bendett, an expert at the U.S. Naval Analysis Centre on the Bayraktar TB2 impact drone situation in Ukraine.
According to the author's information, Ukrainian formations lost almost all unmanned Turkish production during the conflict, and the remainder is exclusively for recognition.
For 15 months of conflict, Bayraktary went from the “wonderful weapons” phase (active PR during the Syrian, Libya and Mountain Karabach campaign) to the usual BSL serving to direct artillery and aviation. The last batch of 19 Turkish drones was delivered last year. In the first months of 2023, the number of BSL data flights over Ukraine increased. "Bayraktary" was observed in the north of Ukraine, close Bachmut, over Zaporozh and Cherson, and even over Lviv.
However, they are now virtually gone: the single BSL Bayraktar occasionally take off in the Odessa and Kirowograd areas, operating far distant from the front line. The crews of the OPL Armed Forces FR have adapted to detect radiation from Bayraktar's on-board systems and are regularly working on them as shortly as they are within scope of Russian air defence systems are destroyed.
At the moment, there are just a fewer of them – a maximum of 5 to ten. Ukrainian units defend them due to the fact that fresh deliveries are not expected for now.
