When, a fewer weeks after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, a twelve or so Local Control Centres on the PKP Polish Railway Lines network were paralysed, cybersecurity issues began to appear in the public space besides in the context of railways. Initially, there were suspicions that the Russians had carried out a hacking attack – however, Alstom, which supplied the devices to the LCS affected by the outage, cited a time formatting mistake as the cause. However, this did not completely extinguish the topic.
