On 6 July, Nauru president David Adeang and his household arrived in Guangdong Province, where he visited Chikan, a household village of his ancestors.
In an interview with the Chinese Media Group (CMG) Adeang said: “When Nauru and China renewed diplomatic relations last year, I met with president Xi Jinping in Beijing. I then asked him personally to aid me find my Chinese roots. That's why I could only come here with his aid and support."

Answering the question of what interests him most in China, president Nauru stated: “I want Nauru and China to get closer together. China's experience gained during improvement is worth following Nauru and the full world. I want to know how the Chinese people overcome the difficulties of becoming a planet leader. My country is small, but China's successes will surely supply Nauru with crucial tips.”
