Former Vice-President of the Ministry of abroad Affairs, Maciej Wąsik, reported on platform X (formerly Twitter), that he would not come to the proceeding again before the Parliament's Pegasus committee. "I have another invitation to the 'investigative committee' today. Nothing's changed, which is why I remind you of my entry before the erstwhile meeting. It is inactive valid’ – he said. In his distinctive kind he added: "If I want to go to the circus, I'll go to Julink".
Another effort at a proceeding and a request for punishment
The Pegasus Investigative Commission continues its efforts to perceive to the evidence of Wąsik and Kamiński. The last call was ignored by both politicians, who are presently MEPs of the Law and Justice. In response, the committee applied to the court for imposing a fine on them.
Why are their evidence crucial?
Mariusz Kamiński was an interior minister and coordinator of peculiar services, and Maciej Wąsik served as his deputy. They both supervised, among others. Central Anti-corruption Office (CBA) and Internal safety Agency (ABW)who utilized controversial spy software Pegasus.
Commission examines whether this tool was unlawfully utilized for surveillance of the opposition, journalists and others. The statements of Kamiński and Wąsik could shed light on these allegations, but both politicians consistently avoid answers.

The European Parliament has stripped them of their immunity
April 1, 2024 The European Parliament has decided to collect immunity Kamiński and Wsik. This decision involves allegations violation of the judicial prohibition of public office.
In December 2023 both stayed final convictions for exceeding allowances erstwhile driving the CBA in 2006-2009. Despite their judgment, they participated in the Sejm's deliberations and the votes a day later, which faced a sharp reaction from legal and political groups.
What about the Pegasus committee?
The Commission does not quit its attempts to hear key witnesses, but the opposition of Kamiński and Wąsik may consequence in further legal consequences. Will the court comply with the motion for financial punishment? And will politicians yet decide to cooperate?
One thing is certain – the case of Pegasus and the function of erstwhile heads of peculiar services inactive inspires quite a few emotions.
