This news was hosted in Polish media for a short while, but did not warm up there. That's why I remind you (because I like):
According to a study by the Australian think tank Australian strategical Policy Institute (ASPI), published on 28 August this year, China is the leader in investigation on the vast majority of advanced technologies. The Institute assessed the competitiveness of investigation countries on the basis of the number of citations of investigation work in 64 technological categories.
China ranked first in 57 surveyed categories (almost 90%), in terms of work published in 2019–2023.
This means that China is leading in more areas than previously thought.
In last year's report, commissioned by the U.S. State Department, ASPI showed that China is the leading country in 37 of 44 rated technologies, frequently carrying out more than 5 times more strategical investigation than their closest competitor, the United States.
The Institute besides stresses the human dimension of technology improvement in its report. Innovations are yet the consequence of investigation work by scientists and designers who have gained cognition and experience throughout their lives that led them to breakthrough discoveries.
And so, for example, in the field of advanced aircraft engines (including hypersonics), in which China publishes more than 4 times as many results of crucial investigation as the United States (2nd place), there are presently 7 of the top 10 investigation institutions in the world. There are 2 fundamental reasons behind this:
Firstly, the majority (68.6%) of the authors of the publication were educated in Chinese universities and presently work in investigation institutions.
Secondly, China besides attracts talent from the most developed countries: 21.6% of authors completed postgraduate studies in 1 of 5 countries (US 9.8%, UK 7.8%, Canada 3.9%, 2% studied in the EU and 2% in Japan).
The authors of the study say that with large probability these attracting talents are Chinese citizens who have gone to abroad universities to return to the country with the cognition they have gained erstwhile they have completed them, for various reasons. To a much lesser extent, the "attractiveness of talent" applies to foreigners transferring to your centre to work in a Chinese investigation institution or company.
Among the interesting conclusions of the ASPI study were 2 of peculiar importance:
- ‘In areas where China overtakes the US a decade or more ago, they tend to build a permanent and unquestionable advantage. For example, in the field of advanced materials and production, China has achieved a large advantage (...), so that it is now a hazard of monopoly with an highly advanced concentration of investigation cognition and top institutions in areas specified as advanced composite materials, advanced protection and coatings, intelligent materials, fresh metamaterials, and nanoscale materials and production. In respective key areas of communication, in peculiar in advanced optical and radio communications and underwater wireless communications, China took the lead in mid-2010 and built a crucial advantage, reaching 3 to 5 times more investigation results than the US over the past 5 years, again creating a monopolistic threat. For comparison, China has comparatively late gained popularity in biotechnology, gene technology and vaccines, allowing them to outrun the US in terms of an yearly publication rate with a advanced impact in the second half of 2010 and in 2020 in 5 of the 7 biotechnology included in Tech Tracker. The field of biotechnology, in which China poses the top hazard of monopoly, is synthetic biology, in which, after taking the lead in 2016. China publishes nearly 5 times as many high-impact investigation as the United States. However, the United States remains a leader in atomic medicine and radiotherapy and maintains a crucial advantage in the field of vaccines and medical remedies.
- The United States is losing the strong historical advantage they have developed. In 21 years, the United States was incapable to keep its lead in research. In the beginning and mid-second decade of the 21st century, the United States was by far the dominant investigation power. From 2003 to 2007, they were the leader in investigation into 60 of 64 technologies. In 2 decades, however, this advantage decreased to just 7 technologies (as ranked for 2019-2023). These are quantum calculations and vaccines and medical remedies in which the United States remains dominant. Knowledge, experience and organization strengths built over decades of investment and pioneering investigation will most likely proceed to benefit the United States in the short term, but China is rapidly catching up with unparalleled investments in its own technological and method fields and the best institutions, especially in key areas of defence and energy technologies.
We encourage you to read the full report. According to authors before Europe (United) there are inactive open chances of entering the borders with China and the US. Europe inactive has a lot to offer. As 1 organism. Individual European countries are alternatively the second league.
