On Wednesday (5.04.2023) the president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenski, together with his wife Olena Zelenska, made their first authoritative visit to Warsaw since the Russian attack in February 2022. Evening Presidents of Poland and Ukraine gave speeches in the courtyard of the Royal Castle. Both speeches were designed so that the audience would have a teardrop in their eyes, and Poles and Ukrainians fell into each other's arms with the hope that they would live happily always after. This is the function of specified speeches – to decision and spread the imagination of a bright future. Everyone who's touched should have a bucket of cold water on their heads, due to the fact that we can't get very far with the emotions. All the more so erstwhile they are emotions that can lead us to misery.
Let's start with the speech of president Andrzej Duda, who has already entered so advanced C, that only wait for him to fly distant into the clouds. From this speech we learned that president Zelenski is simply a hero of the free planet and a large friend of Poland, and Ukraine is fighting for the safety of all Europe. We have besides learned that “this prophecy of the large Ukrainian poet is being fulfilled in our eyes.” What prophecy is involved? It is simply a fragment of Taras Shevchenko's poem, which is on his monument in Warsaw, and which was quoted by president Duda: Give me your hand, Brother Lashe. Give me a place in your heart And we'll get our luck back In Christ’s Name, Silent Paradise.
I do not know if president Duda has read the full poem of Shevchenko from which this quote comes. This is simply a poem titled “To Poles”, in which Shevchenko accuses Catholic priests of having divided free Cossacks and free Lachs: Until with the name of Christ the priests came. They set fire to our quiet paradise. And they poured out the sea of blood and tears and we, in the name of Lord Christ, they crucified... Head down, head down. Kat in the amok with a stone axe And the priest screams furiously, ‘Te Deum! Hallelujah!.’ They're priests and magnates. They split, they split. The ones who have lived together so far.
If, as part of the "solidarity with Ukraine", president Duda took up quoting a poem in which Shevchenko portrays Catholic priests as amok-covered murdering psychopaths, then fear to think what will happen next. We may besides learn that the hajdamacs, whom Shevchenko sang in his poem, and who during the collegiate period carried out the slaughter of about 20,000 Poles and Jews, are heroes without blemish and frost. president Duda hasn't done this kind of thing before. All the more so, that in the case of Volyn, he recommended to priest Isakovich-Zaleski that he “measured with words.”
If we are already at Volyn, president Duda did not mention this name in his speech, but recalled the words of Pope John Paul II spoken in Lviv during the pilgrimage to Ukraine: It is time to break distant from this painful past! ... Let forgiveness, granted and obtained, spill like a charitable lotion in all heart. Through the purification of historical memory, let everyone be prepared to put more into the unity of what they share, to build together a future based on common respect, brotherly fellowship, brotherly cooperation and authentic solidarity..
President Duda stated that "this is the large task which the Holy Father John Paul II has put before us, this is what we are doing today." Really? I did not announcement that in Polish-Ukrainian relations there was a “cleaning of historical memory”. On the contrary. We are dealing with the progressive flagization of Ukraine, the relativization of the Volynian Reich and the ban on the exhumation of Polish victims of Ukrainian genocide. Ukrainians have no intention of asking for forgiveness, and the glories of genocidal killers go in Ukraine full steam. This is the way to “build a future based on common respect”? I don't think so.
Let us now look at president Duda incarnate himself as ruler of the large empire, which can dictate the conditions for everyone around us. Here's a quote: After more than 400 days of war, many countries experience fatigue, fatigue, and discouragement. It is besides fueled by Russian propaganda and misinformation of the temptation to bring about the fastest ceasefire at all costs, and consequently to enter into an unfavorable peace for Ukraine with Russia, which will in fact depend on Russia continuing to occupy the Ukrainian lands it is now occupying. There's no agreement!
Excuse me, but who's gonna ask us for approval about a possible ceasefire or peace with Russia? Nobody! No 1 will ask us, including Ukraine. president Duda's Bunchu declaration on this is simply ridiculous. Poland will not decide how this war will end. Ukraine will not have much to say either if the United States and Russia consider it time to end this conflict. Meanwhile, president Duda swings his sword and announces: It can't be like it utilized to be! I won't! Ukraine will decide for itself! Now and always! And we will stand defender as her neighbor.
How are we expected to realize president Duda's statement? What is this defender standing? Will it not turn into a fight? The old folk's wisdom says that the word sparrows out and returns to the ox. So let president Duda follow his own advice and average his words alternatively of making specified declarations.
Let us now decision on to the speech of the president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenski. It began with a flag salute and a flag salute ended. president Zelenski shouted “The fame of the countrymen!” and the Ukrainians gathered under the phase responded “Herojam fame!”. Greeting in this form they created in 1925 and were the first to start utilizing members of the Legion of Ukrainian Nationalists. As a consequence of the union of the Legion with another nationalist groups and the establishment in 1929 of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, the call passed to that organization and was accepted as an authoritative greeting at the second convention in Rome in August 1939. It is possible to make different twine and to look for different excuses, but the fact is that the call “The fame of U Krajini! Heroiam fame!” is simply a greeting of those Ukrainians who planned and conducted genocide in Poles. Now this greeting sounds before the Royal Castle in Warsaw. This is what the Polish authorities have led to as part of “solidarity with Ukraine”.
Now let's see what president Zelenski had to say. He besides appealed to Pope John Paul II, quoting his words: “Let your spirit descend and renew the face of the earth. This land!’ Zelenski besides quoted Jerzy Giedroycia saying that “there is no independent Poland without independent Ukraine”. That's what we learned. I would say further: Russia will not win with Europe erstwhile Ukrainians and Poles stand side by side stressed the president of Ukraine. In addition to the word “we stand side by side”, the words “brothers of Poles”, “we fight side by side”, “we stand together”, “together in this war”, “together in the European Union”, “together in NATO”.
– Everything we request to solve for the interests and peace of our societies must be solved: from military, political, economic, energy cooperation to the tedious work of historians – said president Zelenski. – Our common and absolute respect will bring the planet Polish and Ukrainian culture. due to the fact that we are saved forever by our unity and determination – he added.
All these ornaments and high-pitched words served to wrap 1 particular, or appeal for arms delivery. Zelenski specifically said to transfer arms to Ukraine without calculating whether it is safe or not. Of course, Poland would be the head of an airplane coalition, as it was the head of a tank coalition. president Zelenski did not mention the grain coalition.
I realize that the president of a country that is at war will say and will do anything not to be alone with an aggressor. But I hope that, as part of “the salvation of eternity” we will not be brought to bankruptcy and drawn to a direct participation in a war that does not know how long it will last and what will end. Meanwhile, we constantly paint a image of the Polish-Ukrainian community, which is together and will be together. Together, together, together... We were together erstwhile before, and it ended very badly. Let's not go on the same rake again, due to the fact that we'll look like Zabłocki on soap. We better say, like Tadeusz to Telimena: “Let us love each other, but so separately.”
