U.S. president Donald Trump's views on Ukraine's conflict are increasingly in line with the views of the Russian authorities and reflect the position of Russian president Vladimir Putin, especially after contacts between the American and Russian sides — reports Bloomberg, who analyzed the comments of the American leader.
According to Bloomberg's article, the agency has utilized a large language model to analyse over 300 public comments by Trump from August 2024 to mid-March 2025, as well as over 3,000 posts on the social media of the president and members of his administration since the beginning of 2025. On the basis of "exclusive analyses", the agency concluded that Trump's "views" of the conflict in Ukraine "are increasingly in line with the views" presented by the Russian Federation.
"The results, which were reviewed by journalists, showed a correlation between Trump administration contacts with (Russian president Vladimir) Putin and subsequent comments," the agency reports.
For example, as Bloomberg notes, although Russian leaders have repeatedly claimed that Vladimir Zelenski is illegal, the analysis shows that Trump started to address this issue only after talking to the Russian leader. Furthermore, after contacting the Russian side, Trump began talking about a low support for Zelenski.
Nameless erstwhile American authoritative whose words were quoted by Bloomberg, he called it apparent that Trump and his squad repeated the views of Russian leaders. At the same time, he said it was unclear whether it was the consequence of the Russian influence or their (US – ed.) own determination to end the war at any cost.
Previously, the results of a survey conducted jointly by the ABC tv channel, the Washington Post newspaper, and the Ipsos company showed that most U.S. citizens believe that president Donald Trump's approach to Russia is besides friendly.
At the end of February, head of EU diplomacy Kaja Kallas complained that Trump speaks in “Russian words” and distances himself from Europe, at the same time approaching “new friends”. As she noted in her interview with Axios, she feels uncomfortable with the fact that Trump and American officials “repeat Russian narratives and conversation points” erstwhile they talk about the conflict in Ukraine.
Polish president Andrzej Duda said in an interview with the Financial Times that he does not believe Trump behaves only “nice and tender” towards Russia; in his opinion, the president of the United States uses tools against Moscow, but not as clearly as those utilized by Washington against Kiev.
Before that, Trump said that his administration intended to establish "perfect relations" with China and Russia, as well as with Ukraine and the countries of the mediate East.
