Police explain the circumstances of the attack on the lecturer of 1 of Warsaw's universities. The event took place on Tuesday on the campus of the Polish-Japanese Academy of Computer Technology (PJATK) at 86 Koszykowa Street. The unsub entered the lecture area and struck a 31-year-old man in the back of the head.
What do we know about the attack?
An injured lecturer did not file a crime report, but another university worker did. The police explain that in specified cases the prosecution of the perpetrator is at the request of the victim.
– Around 10.30 we received information that a medical rescue squad was called to 1 of Warsaw's universities. A 31-year-old male reported having been hit in the back of the head by a individual whose description was incapable to give – said Asp. Małgorzata Gębczyńska from the territory Police office Warsaw III on Ochota.
At first, the lecturer refused to take him to the hospital, but later, due to his malaise, an ambulance was called again. This time a man was hospitalized.
Investigation ongoing – police gathering evidence
– At this point, no 1 was detained. Proceedings are presently underway to establish the description and identity of the perpetrator and all the circumstances of the incident. Monitoring is secured and all another information is collected that can be utilized to explain the matter added a police spokesperson.
Statement by the Rector of PJATK
Rector Dr Jerzy Paweł Nowacki issued an authoritative message on the incident:
"On 13 May 2025 at around 10:00 a.m. on the campus of the Polish-Japanese Academy of Computer Technology at 86 Koszytowa Street in Warsaw, 1 of the employees of our university was attacked. The injured, after first aid on site, was transported to the infirmary for further diagnosis. The worker is presently on sick leave. Immediately after the incident, we launched safety procedures: appropriate emergency services and police were notified, which presently explains the circumstances of the incident. Our university is based on values of common respect, tolerance and empathy, which is why we are profoundly touched by yesterday's event. We assure you that we are taking all essential steps to warrant the full community of the Academy of Security”.
The issue is of large interest, especially in the context of safety at universities. The police are inactive investigating.
