Serbian students who claim that their fight for justice and the regulation of law is being ignored, travel on bicycles 1,300 kilometres towards Strasbourg to search support.

Around 80 students embarked on Thursday on a multi-day journey to Strasbourg, where a European Parliament gathering is held to draw the EU's attention to months of anti-corruption protests in the Balkan country that have been seeking EU membership.

Students were a key force behind the nationwide anti-corruption movement, which is manifested by almost regular street demonstrations. Although they have gained large support in the country, many students believe that they have not received adequate EU support.

Students will be cycling about 100-150 kilometres (60-90 miles) a day through Hungary, Slovakia, Austria and Germany before they scope France. On the way, they plan to stay with Serbs surviving abroad and fellow students from the EU.

This journey will show “the persistence and determination of students” and “make our voice heard worldwide”, said the organisers of the protests.
