Prof. Andrzej Nowak, commenting on Barbara Nowack's scandalous message about "Polish Nazis", said explicitly that it was no misconception, but that this message must be read in the right context: the imagination of Poland as perpetrators of the Holocaust.
Let us remind, during the global conference organised on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the German extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, Minister of National Education Barbara Nowacka said that "in the area occupied by Germany Polish Nazis built camps". Later she explained that it was just a slip of the tongue.
Prof. Nowak, however, interprets Nowack's message differently, indicating the appropriate context of these words. "Minister Barbara Nowacka and her patron Prime Minister Donald Tusk talk of a misconception. However, it is impossible to read the words of Minister Nowacka without their context (...) It is created by, among others, the comment of the head of the influential faction in the European Parliament (Guy Verhofstadt – ed.) to the March of Independence. He described it with a phrase, repeated later on in European tv and mainstream media, talking about marching 60 1000 fascists in Warsaw," he said in an interview with the portal wpolityka.pl.
Historian added that it is in this context that Minister Nowack himself fits in, which led to changes in the programme basis, "disinfecting the teaching of past in Polish schools from almost all references to what constitutes historical fact and building national pride. At the same time, what is “culture” of shame and shame was left and exposed. I discussed these changes in item many times," said Prof. Nowak.
Prof. Andrzej Nowak besides estimated that this is all that the current Polish government is doing, “recollects precisely the beginning of the squad installed in Poland in 1944 by Stalin. erstwhile these governments began to stabilise, each opponent was identified as a racist, fascist and anti-democratic force. I think that is what we are going to do, so that everyone who does not fit in the block supporting Donald Tusk's government becomes an eo ipso (the same) fascist and Nazi.”
