Another series of anti-war debates took place, this time on the initiative of online channels Think Poland TV, Against the Censur and Piano TV.
Participants discussed mainly plans for militarization of Poland and conflicts in the symbolic sphere leading to escalation of the armed conflict in Ukraine.
About militarization
In the first part of the conversation Sebastian Pitoń (Goral Veto, Piton TV), Przemysław Piasta (Think Poland, Roman Dmowski National Foundation) and Mateusz Piskorski (Thinking Poland, Against the Censur) discussed the risks resulting from the expanding militarisation of Poland.
Participants drew attention to the expanding arms spending, which was primarily allocated to offensive weapons. The main contracts are signed with US suppliers, which leads to the dependence of the Polish defence strategy on the American side.
On the another hand, despite expanding defence spending, authoritative data indicate an expanding number of professional soldiers moving to retirement. Additionally, the Polish Army is proving to be helpless in many areas, which may consequence not so much from under-financing, but from mediocre and mediocre management of resources.
About Symbol War
The second part of the debate was devoted to the issues of historical policy and conflict at symbol level. The last events related to the celebration of the triumph Day on 9 May in Warsaw and the decision of the Committee on the Standardisation of Geographical Names outside the Borders of the Republic of Poland on the conversion of Kaliningrad to Królewiec became the basis of the discussion. Monumental wars lead to escalation of social tensions; the fresh demolition of russian monuments and demolition of monuments of local nationalists in the Baltic countries can be an example.
The importance of these matters was discussed Adam Laughter (Think Poland), Krystian Yachts (Working Poland), Vladimir Gorki (Polish Left Movement), Peter Panasiuk (Polish Anti-War Movement) and Krzysztof Tołwiński (Front party).
Both discussions were held Tomasz Jankowski (against Censur). The participants announced the continuation of the cycle of debates and the discussion of further issues.
