Romania's president Nicușor Dan expressed his belief that Moldova could join the European Union within 3 years. As he stressed, this will be possible both through the determination of the authorities in Chisinau and by the support of EU countries.

"I would presume that Moldova will be a associate of the European Union in 3 years," said Dan, quoted on Thursday by Romanian media. He added that despite serious economical difficulties, including the multiple increases in gas prices, the Moldovan authorities and most citizens have consistently supported the European course, including in the face of Russia's aggressive policy.

The president of Romania has estimated that the Chisinau will do everything essential to enter the Community in the coming years. He besides stressed that the unresolved Transnistria problem should not be an obstacle to accession.

Previously, Moldovan president Maia Sandu said that her country could become an EU associate in 2028 if all the negotiations and ratification procedures could be completed.
