GURUGRAM- Indian FSC Air India (AI) has achieved unprecedented growth in 2024, emerging as the fourth-largest revenue generator within the Tata Group following strategic mergers and operational expansions.

The airline completed two significant consolidations – merging Air India Express (IX) with Air Asia India (I5) and integrating Vistara (UK) into Air India’s operations.

Air India Milestones in 2024

The consolidated airline now commands a workforce of 30,000 employees managing 300 aircraft. These aircraft serve over 60 million passengers annually across more than 100 destinations domestically and internationally.

Air India introduced India’s first Airbus A350 to its fleet and secured orders for an additional 100 aircraft. The airline established key infrastructure projects, including a new Training Academy in Gurugram, and a maintenance facility in Bengaluru, and announced plans for a 34-aircraft Flight School in Amravati.

Customer experience improvements spanned multiple touchpoints. The airline launched new websites, updated crew uniforms, introduced enhanced inflight serviceware, and upgraded its catering services. These improvements garnered industry recognition for service quality, technology implementation, and entertainment systems.

The carrier overhauled its loyalty program and implemented new revenue management systems across both Air India and Air India Express. Customer service capabilities expanded with improved call centers. The airline initiated interior renovations of its narrowbody fleet and inaugurated a premium passenger lounge in Bengaluru.

Network optimization efforts focused on deploying optimal aircraft for key routes, particularly domestic metro connections and premium international destinations including London Heathrow and New York.

Air India achieved unprecedented revenue milestones across passenger services, ancillary operations, and cargo divisions in 2024.

Strong International Expansion

The airline expanded its international network, launching direct flights from Bengaluru to London Heathrow and establishing new routes to Zurich, Ho Chi Minh City, and Kuala Lumpur.

Customer satisfaction metrics demonstrated substantial improvement, with the airline’s Net Promoter Score rising by 40 points. Air India secured additional aircraft orders and relocated approximately 4,000 employees from various airline backgrounds to the new Vatika campus.

These achievements represent the midpoint of Air India’s five-year Vihaan.AI transformation strategy. The airline plans significant fleet upgrades in 2025, including new seat installations across widebody and narrowbody aircraft. Service standards will undergo further enhancement to establish higher benchmarks across operations.

The integration of Air India, Vistara, Air India Express, and Air Asia under unified management marks a crucial phase in the airline’s development. The merged entity now focuses on operational efficiency and profitability through streamlined processes and practices.

Air India’s cultural evolution emphasizes excellence, accountability, collaboration, and customer-centric operations. The airline pursues its vision of becoming a world-class global carrier while maintaining its Indian heritage. Management will prioritize embedding these values throughout the organization in 2025.
