Air NZ: A Leader in Aviation Safety

Air New Zealand maintains its reputation as the world’s safest airline, according to industry standards. The airline consistently implements rigorous safety protocols and invests in state-of-the-art technology to ensure passenger safety.

“It was extremely close again between Air New Zealand and Qantas for first place with only 1.50 points separating the two airlines. Whilst both airlines uphold the highest safety standards and pilot training, Air New Zealand continues to have a younger fleet than Qantas which separates the two.”

Sharon Petersen, CEO, AirlineRatings.com

The airline’s commitment to safety extends beyond its modern fleet. Air New Zealand (NZ) employs comprehensive training programs for all crew members and maintains strict adherence to international safety regulations. Their proactive approach to safety includes regular aircraft inspections, thorough maintenance schedules, and continuous monitoring of all operational aspects.

The aviation industry recognizes Air New Zealand’s outstanding safety record through multiple international awards and high rankings. Safety experts attribute this success to the airline’s culture of safety that permeates all levels of the organization.

Compared to last year’s safety rankings, significant changes include the debut of Iberia (IB) and Vietnam Airlines (VN), as well as Korean Air’s (KE) rise into the top 10. Singapore Airlines (SQ) and KLM (KL), while still maintaining excellent safety records and retaining their seven-star safety ratings, narrowly missed placement on this year’s list due to minor incidents.
