WEEK IN THE CLUBS "POLISH GAZETY" – 5.03.2025 National Day of Memory of the National Army

On 14 February 2025, the National Army Soldiers Memorial Day was first celebrated, commemorating the heroes of the largest underground army in occupied Europe. Throughout Poland, the “Polish Newspapers” Clubs participated extensively in the celebrations, paying tribute to the AK Soldiers. Below is simply a study on the celebrations in individual cities.

BALANCE SHEETWarsaw Bielany-Żoliborz, together with Solidarity Fighting, participated in the first National Day of Memory of National Army Soldiers. Holy Mass in the intention of, among others, the Soldiers of the Home Army, which was concelebrated in the Church of Pentecost in the Warsaw Bielany. THE COURT OF AUDITORS Members of the “Polish Newspapers” Club in Piotrków Trybunalski celebrated the memory of the National Army Soldiers, laying flowers in front of the tenement home where Gen. Stefan Rowecki “Grot” lived. In the intention of the homeland and the heroes of the AK, Holy Mass was celebrated in the Bernardine church. After the service, the participants went to a memorial commemorating the AK heroes, where a short speech about their heroic fight and dedication took place.

PARTICULARThe Association of Solidarity and Independence, Club “Polish Newspapers” Częstochowa and local patriotic communities celebrated the 78th anniversary of the death of Gen. Stanisław Sojczyński "Warszyc", laying flowers and lighting candles. The participants then watched a documentary about the past of the National Army in Czestochowa and its heroes. The gathering ended with a lecture by historians who brought the function of the AK in the war effort and told about postwar repression against its soldiers.

OLSTIN| “Gazeta Polskiej” Club in Olsztyn organized the event, which was opened by president Piotr Bieranowski. During the ceremony the past of the creation of the National Army and its fight for Poland's freedom was recalled. In the evening there was a performance of patriotic songs, and participants could perceive to memories of descendants of AK soldiers.

NEW SIGN Fr Władysław Gurgach SJ lit candles at the National Army and Peasants Battalion Memorial at the Municipal Cemetery. A brief prayer for the souls of the deceased AK soldiers was recited before the flowers and inflammation were laid down, while asking for their intercession for our homeland.

GLYVICEThe Gliwicki Club “Polish Newspapers” commemorated the soldiers of the Home Army with a minute of silence, prayer and inflammation on the graves of the AK officers at the Central Cemetery in Gliwice. During the club meeting, a associate of the planet Association of National Army Soldiers shared memories of the persecution of the AK-ows by russian “liberators” and their native services.

KELCE — CENTRE The members of the “Polish Newspapers” Club in Kielce celebrated the National Day of Memory of the AK Soldiers, laying flowers on the graves of heroes at the Old Cemetery.

GREEN II The celebrations in Dzierzoniów were held at the grave of the colonel. Valerian Tevzaga. Although his homeland was a country in the far Caucasus, he served in the Polish army and fought to defend our country in the September campaign.

COUNTRY| A protest against the liquidation of the Polish state was held in Matejka Square in Krakow. The event was attended by social activists and many citizens who expressed their opposition to the current changes on the Polish political scene. The organizers of the demonstration were Ryszard Majdzik, Krakowski Klub “Gazeta Polska” and the Inter-establishment Organization NSZZ “Solidarność” at the Lesser Poland Region Department. The speakers stressed the importance of Poland's sovereignty and the request to fight for its future. Among the most frequently raised topics were issues of media freedom, agricultural policy and threats of abroad influence on Polish policy.
– We will not let our homeland to be liquidated! – said Ryszard Majdzik, anti-communist opposition activist, stressing that the patriots gathered are ready to fight for Poland. Adam Borowski, a legend of Solidarity, and at the same time the president of the Warsaw club “Gazeta Polska”, highlighted the request for social mobilisation before the upcoming presidential elections. Marek Michno, president of the Kraków club "GP", who stressed the request for a critical look at Donald Tusk and his policy, pointed to Poland's past as a foundation that should be respected, and called for a commitment to work for the country in the upcoming elections. Protesters repeatedly chanted slogans related to defending the sovereignty of the country, including: “Here is Poland!”, “God, Honor, Homeland!” and “We will win!”. The request to control the electoral process and fight disinformation and political manipulation has been highlighted. The speeches were intertwined with emotional calls for unity, mobilisation and civic activity. The protest ended with thanks to the participants and an appeal for further efforts to defend Poland. Clubs “GP” from Łódź (Łódź II), Myślenice and Jelesni came to the show.

BITSThe “Polish Newspapers” Club in Bytów celebrated a unique anniversary – 13 years of its activity. The celebrations were an chance to thank all members and sympathizers who support the club and motivate him to proceed his activity. "As a tiny club, we manage and together, with the aid of our friends, we can take more and more steps in the quest for development," stressed the president of the “Gazeta Polska” Club of Bytów, Jedrzej Sobol. “I would peculiarly like to thank the management of the “Polish Newspaper” Clubs and all the “GP” clubs, due to the fact that this unity gives real strength to act, especially in these hard times.” During the ceremony there were many expressions of gratitude and reflection on the future. It was stressed that Poland is simply a common homeland that is worth supporting and protecting. “Gazeta Polska” clubs, acting together, form a community that gives strength and motivation to proceed working for common values.

TEST| In Bytom there were celebrations on the occasion of the first anniversary of the establishment of the “Gazeta Polska” Bytom Club, which operates under the leadership of Danuta Kostek. The event was an chance to summarize the club's year of activity. The gathering began with a multimedia presentation prepared by the club president, summarizing the past year of work. A peculiar guest, Andrzej Migot, took the floor. The ceremony was besides attended by guests from the “Gazeta Polska” Club in Hamburg, PiS councillors of the city of Bytomia – Maciej Bartków and Waldemar Gawron, as well as the clergyman – father Mirosław.
The gathering was celebrated by the artistic part, in which patriotic works were sung, including “The Fatherland Has”, “In a Broad Steppe”, “Have Hope” and “The Camp Prayer”. The participants of the gathering awarded the talker a large circular of applause, and Danuta Kostek was congratulated and thanked for the year of the “Gazeta Polska” Club in Bytom.

PERTH (AUSTRALIA) | In Perth, Australia, a Mass was held at the Polish church in Maylands in the intention of the Siberians and the dead from their families. After the service, 2 members from the recently formed “Gazeta Polska” Club from Perth presented a bond of words and music, a poem about Sibiraks and songs – “Hymn Sibiraks” and “Red poppies”. Then the Polish Roman Catholic Centre prepared a treat for the participants, during which the Siberians could jointly mention the hard destiny of their generation.
