As all year on the anniversary of April 10, 2010, Poles, including the club “Polish Newspapers”, paid tribute to the victims of the Smolensk tragedy, and in many cities there were celebrations commemorating these events.
The Spirit’s Will | Members of the “Gazeta Polska” Club in Zduńska Wola took part in the Mass celebrated in the basilica of the smaller St. After the service, delegations and residents of the city laid flowers and lit candles under a memorial dedicated to the victims from Smolensk. The celebrations were organised by the Club “GP” in Zduńska Wola and Knight of Columbus.
GREEN IIThe members of the “Gazeta Polska” club of Dzierżoniów II laid flowers and lit candles in front of the Monument of the Solid Soldiers. After the celebrations, Mass was celebrated in St. Jerzy in the intention of the Smolensk disaster, ordered by the Lech Kaczyński Social Movement.
CLUBS| The territory celebrations began with the commemoration of the 85th anniversary of the Katyn crime and the 15th anniversary of the Smolensk tragedy. A tribute was paid to Polish Army officers murdered by the NKVD in Katyn, Kharkov and Mednoje. Their sacrifice will forever be a symbol of patriotism, courage and integrity. The celebrations began with a solemn Mass in the Parish of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Łuków, during which Fr.Dean Andrzej Kielce gave a moving homily.
OPOLEThe “Polish Newspapers” Club in Opole organized celebrations devoted to the memory of 96 victims of the Smolensk tragedy. The ceremony was attended by: Minister Marcin Ociepa, Fr. After the ceremony flowers were placed at the Memorial of “God, Honor, Homeland”.
EDENIA| Gdynia “Gazeta Polska” Club commemorated the victims of the Smolensk tragedy on Stone Mountain, in the Maria and Lech Kaczyński Park, where burning candles were set up.
PERTH (AUSTRALIA) In the Polish church in Maylands, members of the “Polish Newspapers” Club in Perth and the Polish Roman Catholic Centre organized Mass for the victims of the Katyn massacre and victims of the Smolensk tragedy. After the service 2 poems dedicated to Katyn and Smolensk were listened to, and the songs “Nad Katyn, nad Smolensk” and “The Motherland has” were sang together.
RETURNEDThe “Polish Newspapers” Club in Wrocław organized the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Smolensk bombing. The solemn Mass for the victims was held in the Cathedral of Wroclaw, followed by a march on Maria and Lech Kaczyński Boulevard. More than 500 people attended the ceremony. Fr Paweł Cembrowicz read all the names of the victims of the Smolensk tragedy and gave a homily.
CIECHOCINEKThe “Polish Newspapers” Club in Ciechocinek celebrated the anniversary of the Smolensk tragedy, attending Mass in the College of Saints Peter and Paul in Ciechocinek. Just after the service, in front of the Obelisk of Victims from Smolensk, the participants of the ceremony listened to respective patriotic poems and songs performed by young people and adults.
CHRONESThe “Polish Newspapers” Club of Chrzanów organized celebrations commemorating the tragic events of 15 years ago at the memorial boards – Katyń and Smolensk. After singing the national anthem flowers were laid and candles lit. The president of the club "GP" Mr Janin Trzaska in her speech pointed out the dramatic similarity of the destiny of Katyń and Smolensk victims, stressing that both tragedies symbolize lies and historical lies. The celebrations ended with a reciting of a moving poem by the author, dedicated to the memory of the victims, and a common prayer. After the celebrations, the participants went to Mass in the church of Saint Nicholas in Chrzanów.
FAITH| Poznań celebrations of the 15th anniversary of the Smolensk tragedy began with a solemn Mass. After its completion, as all month, the participants went to the Memorial of the Victims of Siberia and Katyń to celebrate their memory at the commemorative plaque dedicated to the victims of the Smolensk tragedy. After occasional speeches filled with memories of that tragic date, flowers were placed and candles lit.
BITSThe celebrations in Bytowo began with Mass in the intention of victims from Smolensk. After the service, the participants met at the monument of John Paul II, where they sang the anthem of Poland. They besides participated in prayer for the dead and the Appeal of the Dead. The club “Polish Newspapers” from Słupsk joined the ceremony.
PARTICULARThe “Polish Gazeta” Club in Częstochowa participated in the ceremony at Jasna Góra, organized by Euro MP Jadwiga Wiśniewska on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Smolensk tragedy. Members of the “GP” Club besides celebrated the 15th anniversary of the death of their patron, Janusz Kochanowski, who died under Smolenski.
NEW SIGN | In the Falkowski Forest, just before 8:41 a.m., a long silence began to celebrate the anniversary of the Smolensk tragedy. The club “Gazeta Polska” Nowy Sącz named after J. Olszewski paid tribute to the victims of the Katyn crime and to those who died in Smolensk. The ceremonies were besides attended by city authorities, powiat, voivodship, representatives of uniformed services, banner mail, school youth and residents. The prayer for the dead was refused by Fr Jerzy Jurkiewicz.
GLYVICE| In the Garrison Church of St. Barbara in Gliwice, Mass was celebrated for the victims of the Smolensk tragedy. After its completion, the Gliwicki Klub "Gazeta Polskiej" lit candles, and the prayer in the Polish Golgot, where there is the world's first plaque commemorating the victims of this tragedy.
KELCE CENTRE The celebrations of the 15th anniversary of the Smolensk Tragedy began with the Holy Mass in the intention of the ar tragedy held in the Cathedral Basilica. The clubmen then folded flowers and lit candles under the plaque commemorating the president of the Republic of Poland Lech Kaczyński, his wife Maria and 94 people who died in Smolensk. The holodeck was besides placed at the monument of Prime Minister Przemysław Gosiewski, MP of the Świętokrzyska Land.
WARSAW| Warsaw Klub „Gazeta Polskiej” participated in ceremonies related to the 15th anniversary of the Smolensk tragedy, in the Mass in the Archikatedral Basilica and in an appeal at the Presidential Palace, where the president of PiS Jarosław Kaczyński spoke.
ROMANIA| On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Smolensk tragedy, representatives of the “Polish Newspapers” Club in Romania, Law and Justice and the authorities of the city of Romania gathered to celebrate the victims of this tragedy. On the roundabout of president Lech Kaczyński and the roundabout of Marshal Maciej Plażyński, flowers were placed, candles were lit and prayers were said for the fallen in Smolensk.
MURMUNIC| In the church on the Grunwald Settlement, just before the Holy Mass in intention of the homeland, the “Polish Newspapers” Club Mrągowo placed flowers under a plaque dedicated to the memory of Poles who died in the Smolensk tragedy.
WHITE-CENTRUM The representatives of the “Polish Newspapers” Club Białystok-Centrum attended the Mass in the parish and St Maximilian Maria Kolbe, on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Smolensk tragedy and the 85th anniversary of the Katyn crime. After the service, the assembly went to a fresh plaque commemorating the victims of the Katyn crime and the Smolensk tragedy, including the parishioner – Justyna Moniuszko – a stewardess who died in the crash at Smolensk.
ESSENThe members of the “Polish Newspapers” Club in Essen met to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Smolensk tragedy. The celebrations were held in an outdoor memorial site dedicated to the victims of the disaster.
KONINThe celebrations in Konin, organized by members of the Lech Kaczyński “Gazeta” Polish Club, began with singing the national anthem and prayers for the victims of the disaster. Senator Leszek Galemba gave a brief commemorative speech, and after folding flowers and lighting, participants went to the Monument of Katyń.
OLSTINThe “Polish Newspapers” Club in Olsztyn organized a commemoration of tragic events. A gathering was held at the Column of the White Eagle at the Polish Consulate Square. Flowers were folded and candles lit.
