The Russian invasion of Ukraine of 24 February 2022, which was expected to be a peculiar operation of respective days, escalated into a bloody armed conflict that had been going on for more than 400 days. There is most likely no observer whom this war would not surprise — whether it is the determination, but above all the effectiveness of Ukraine's resistance, whether it is the helplessness and tremendous losses of the Russian army, or the scale and kind of military support of Ukraine from the West, or yet the ruthlessness of Russian crimes against the civilian population.
