The European Commission imposed fines of €700 million on Wednesday – €500 million on Apple and €200 million on Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. The fines concern breaches of the Digital Markets Act (DMA) and are the first imposed by the EU on technology companies for breaking DMA rules.
